The eBike System division at Bosch, the German multinational, turns ten this year. It’s been a decade of growth and success, that’s now even experiencing a surge in interest and demand during the pandemic. To celebrate the important anniversary, Bosch eBike Systems has come up with the “eBike Design Vision”, a futuristic concept bike that aims to show us what cycling in the future would look like. It’s a slick bike, but it’s still quite non-descript and unassuming as it’s meant to be a reference design for e-bike manufacturers that will want to integrate Bosch’s new components into their future models.
This concept is the future of electric bikes, according to Bosch

The centerpiece is the Performance Line CX Motor, which offers the most torque of all of Bosch’s mid-drive motors, paired with a new 625 watt-hours battery, the PowerTube 625. Thanks to its elongated shape, the battery can fit perfectly into a bike’s downtube avoiding the aesthetic pitfall of an external battery pack. Last but not least, the concept shows an integrated version of the Nyon onboard computer, which is usually just mounted on the handlebar. It can connect to smartphones for turn-by-turn directions and makes it easy to always keep the bike’s main functions in check, starting with battery levels. Everything comes together seamlessly into the concept’s design: the bike with a cool futuristic feeling to it, thanks to the shape of the frame and the large carbon-fiber-like wheels. All in all the design is maybe a trifle too masculine and aggressive despite the sloping top bar, but then again, it’s just a suggestion to show the potential of the Bosch integrated eBike system to manufacturers, which will hopefully come up with new interesting variation of the system’s design in the near future.
