Nada, a Spanish design studio founded by Borja Hernández and Arcadi Martìn, has designed a two-storey loft for a single professional.
The flat’s key-element consists of a central cube with a multifunctional function – integrating kitchen, bathroom, laundry and storage within – and also a flexible nature thanks to a concealed folding system that generates space and responds to different uses. A light circular staircase connects the upper floor, which includes the master bedroom, a bathroom and a dressing room, to the ground one, by shaping a single “white cube”.
An oak shelf along the corridor defines the worktop, while the wooden floor and the natural daylight from a rooftop window provide warmness to the sleeping area. The load-bearing wall of the facade and its gaps have been preserved in their original state during the renovation process as a tribute to its Mediterranean past.
