Maison&Objet, the forerunner of all autumn design fairs and festivals, is ready to inaugurate this September edition focussing, as usual, on the latest trends in interior design and the promotion of new talents. Parisian architect Laura Gonzalez, the New Designer of the Year for M&O, stood out for the warmth and exuberance she put in her new interpretation of the most predictable contemporary classic interiors of restaurants, showrooms and hotels. Over the course of the fair, Gonzalez will set up a temporary café, called Café Signature, in Hall 7, in collaboration with Pierre Frey, a brand of furnishing fabrics and wallpapers. On this very occasion we will see some of her limited-edition pieces of furniture first-hand, discovering the synthesis of luxury and glamour that they represent. The Rising Talent Awards exhibition will also explore the new languages of young designers.

The exhibition, now dedicated to American designers, will focus on six exceptional personalities – Alex Brokamp, Bailey Fontaine, Green River Project, Harold, Kin & Company, Rosie Li – motivated by the same dry style, aimed at enhancing the creative and sometimes ironic finishes of the material, in opposition to the enhancement of fine materials, first of all wood, typical of the American tradition. In order to facilitate the visit among the more than 3,000 exhibitors, the fair has planned six exceptional itineraries focused on specific themes – New Exhibitors, Sustainable, Ateliers d’Art de France, French Made, Hotel&Restaurant, Archi Designer and Work! – aiming to meet the interests of visitors and at the same time highlight the savoir-faire of the territory.

In particular, the theme of the “metamorphosis” within the workplace will be the protagonist of an itinerary interested in highlighting its progressive osmosis with the home environment, resulting from a new research for well-being and customization. Along with Maison&Objet, the entire city circuit will start with the annual Paris Design Week (from 5th to 14th of September). This year the historic design districts – Saint Germain des Prés, Le Halle/Marais/Bastille, Pigalle/Barbes/Stalingrad, Opéra/Concorde/Etoile – will be joined by the new area of Vertbois, where the Le Off exhibition will focus on new design talents and many niche projects, both French and international.

Again, a map of eight themed walks (#ArtDesign, #Upcycling, #Work, #Projets, #SavoirFaire, #IconicDesign, #FoodDesign et #FashionDesign), many talks with great designers, and after-work events for each district will bring the general public closer to the exhibitors, multiplying the opportunities for discovery and dialogue. Always highlighting the importance of the research carried about by new generations, the exhibition “Incubateur French Design 2019” promoted by Le French Design by VIA, will display the unprecedented results of the collaboration between twelve designers and twelve French publishers. It will be an opportunity to experience the freshness and the ability to read the present of some young talents, as well as some well-known personalities – Ioanna Vautrin, 5.5 studio –. Moreover, it will give rise to the opportunity for re-analysing the evolution of the project à la française and to better understand its shifts towards new territories, first of all towards sustainable innovation.
