This year, the Virtual Design Destination, at its first edition, will be the place to discover fifteen national design collections presented during the London Design Festival, with more than 200 exclusive pieces, united by the theme “The New Reality".
The preparations for the event organized by Adorno – an exlusively virtual gallery of design and art, run by Kristian Snorre Andersen, Martin Clausen, and Jimmy MacDonald –, and the related virtual design, were started during the first pandemic wave in Europe. “Awareness of the global ecological, political, economic and social crisis we are threatened by was fostered by the uncertainties and fears caused by the pandemic,” say those responsible for the event. “It is more evident than ever that we must reflect, re-evaluate and adapt our way of life. Fortunately, the willingness to create a new and better reality is greater than ever.”

The curators of the fourteen participating countries were asked to reflect on specific experiences, reflections and themes from the moment the artistic direction of each of their national collections was blocked. They worked with their local designers at the intersection of craft and design to develop sub-narratives on the general theme, including gender, urbanization, climate, isolation and healing.
