Ikea is continuing its collaboration with Tom Dixon by exploring the future of urban farming with a new concept to promote locally grown food, which will be revealed at the annual Chelsea Flower Show in London next May.
The project will lead to the production of a collection of urban growing tools – to be available from Ikea in 2021 – exploring the intersection between the “hyper-natural and hyper-tech”.
The collaboration – which has previously seen the London-based designer develop a modular sofa – is an upscaling of Ikea's previous in-door gardening collections that have focused on hydroponics in a bid to raise awareness about the waste involved in mass food production.
