In times of crisis, we need to win back our time. This is the message from Maarten Baas, who this year appears at the Furniture Fair in the guise of a film director as well as a designer. He juxtaposes “real time” with the “just in time” approach of industry, i.e. only producing what has already been sold or will be sold in the very short term. Inside the exhibition-event curated with Diana Marrone, the Dutch designer presents three films about the passing of time, filmed and edited with help from the Mondriaan Foundation. In the video, Baas reflects on mass production while mixing cinema, art and theatre with actor-performers who mark the passing of the hours like the hands of a clock. In the space provided by Ennio Capasa, Baas also presents his Grandfather Clock and a small retrospective of his work.
