Adults are admitted, but only if accompanied by children, to the play-exhibition running until 30 March at the Triennale in Milan. Conceived by MUBA, the Museo dei Bambini di Milano, together with ABM, Associazione Bruno Munari and Edizioni Corraini, the exhibition is aimed at children aged between two and six.

«Munari's lesson is not a scholastic one of I'll teach you to do something. “Creative children are happy children” because the people looking after them feel the need to do something with them rather than for them. All children are curious, this is the certainty that adults have to be convinced of. Curiosity, in terms of wanting to know what you don't know yet, can be disappointed in many children who are pushed to obey and repeat» (from Roberto Pittarello, Munari dei bambini, in B. Finessi, Su Munari, Abitare Segesta Cataloghi, Milano 1999).

Total freedom exists along the whole play-orientated route of the exhibition. Children's curiosity is stimulated by hiding objects and games different inspired by Munari's designs inside boxes that at first seem all the same. Pebbles from the beach to line up that become a tool for children's imagination and the game of language of gestures that develops critical understanding of signs in the real world. A tactile route to explore with the hands and the whole body that is based on the experience of the Prelibri, a real multi-sensory encyclopedia conceived by Munari for children. Giulia Guzzini
