American artist Daniel Arsham’s collaboration with The Pokémon Company is a long-standing one. The exhibition “A Ripple in Time”, which officially opened on 12 February 2022 at NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, marks the third episode of Arsham’s art project dedicated to Pokémon, following the exhibitions “Relics of Kanto Through Time” at NANZUKA Gallery and Parco Museum Tokyo in summer 2020, and “Time Dilation” at Perrotin Gallery in New York in January 2021.
Arsham’s new exhibition project consists of five exhibitions in different locations: “A Ripple in Time” at NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, “Ancient Power: Hidden in the Ruins” at NANZUKA 2G, “Field Research” at 3110NZ by LDH kitchen, “Hidden within the Tall Grass” at Sogetsu Plaza, and “Pokémon of Future Past” at Roppongi Hills 66 Plaza.
Along with the exhibition, the artist released a limited edition of 500 pieces of the crystalised Pokémon Mew card, available from 11th February 2022. The sculpture is a replica of the first edition Mew card from the acclaimed card game. It is crafted from white resin and crystal dust and is a small-scale version of the black granite and crystal edition created in collaboration with EYEFUNNY OBJECTS.
Each piece will be delivered in a personalised box including a holographic label to verify edition number and authenticity.
