In Rome until December 13th, Villa Borghese will host Back to Nature. Contemporary Art at Villa Borghese, a new open-air exhibition project with free admission, curated by Costantino D'Orazio. The initiative, inaugurated on 15th September, represents a unicum within Rome's cultural programming: it is the first project with contemporary art installations aimed at enhancing one of the Capital's historic parks. The event is conceived as a festival and proposes simultaneously a rich programme of music and street art performances. The exhibition involves Parco dei Daini and the area around Piazza di Siena, Museo Carlo Bilotti (ex Aranciera) and Museo Pietro Canonica.

Back to Nature is the result of a reflection on correspondence between contemporary art works, pre-existing architecture and vegetation. The initiative joins a wide debate on current issues such as climate change, sustainability and the management of urban green areas. The common thread of the works on display is transparency, a physical and conceptual feature that allows the installations to dialogue with the park in full respect of the space. In the evocative setting of the historic park coexist the famous igloo by Mario Merz, on top of which stands a deer, the 11-metre installation by Edoardo Tresoldi, Etherea, created and already exhibited during the Coachella Festival, and the flags by Mimmo Paladino, a tribute to the sculptures that once decorated Villa Borghese’s boulevards. The exhibition also features installations by leading names in the contemporary art scene such as Andreco, Benedetto Pietromarchi, Davide Rivalta, Grazia Toderi and Nico Vascellari.
Back to Nature. Contemporary Art at Villa Borghese is promoted and produced by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita culturale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and organized by Zètema Progetto Cultura.
