Adrián Villar Rojas. Housekeeping at the museum

With an exhibition-sculpture, the Argentine artist completes his research into the nature of institutional space and the meaning of the artwork. Read an excerpt of the article by Paola Nicolin, to be published in Domus March issue.

“The Theater of Disappearance”, 2017, Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Los Angeles

At MOCA’s Geffen Contemporary in Los Angeles, the Argentine artist is clearing, renovating and reorganising the space to host a series of objects and people travelling from far-flung places such as Sharjah, Istanbul, Rosario, Berlin, Athens, Turin and London. The result is an exhibition-work that speaks of peripatetic identities, diasporas, displacements and rebirths designed for the celebrated museum “of artists for artists”, which Frank Gehry decided to renew in 1983 in a dialogue with Michael Heizer.
