The Mexican studio DVCH De Villar CHacon Arquitectos has redesigned a disused space in the suburban area of Mexicali, the Mexican city bordering with Calexico in California, creating a new playground with rest areas, protected from the strong sun thanks to the shade created by wooden pergolas and trees.
Following the footsteps already existing in the rectangular lot, the designers traced organic lines that coincide with the daily routes taken by the inhabitants. The new route encloses all the necessary playground structures, leaving the pedestrian space centrally, in continuity with the other streets of the neighborhood.

With the use of a rosy palette an urban void is redrawn by DVCH with organic paths and wooden pergolas.

Every element, from the furnishings to the sports fields, is characterized by the use of pink in contrast with the surrounding buildings, with the intention of strengthening the identity of a project oriented both to become a public attractor on an urban scale, and a place that guarantees the common benefits required by the neighborhood and by kids.
