Dillon617 is a housing project made of 49 units located in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and designed by LOHA (Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects). To face the US city’s increasing population, Dillon617 mixes together multi-unit housing and houses, providing green areas and terraces for socialization. The building combines private and communal spaces in a growing urban community by connecting two long bars, one of them slightly bended towards the exterior to create a paseo. The blocks are connected by an external walkway that also provides meeting spaces. Stepped terraces on the south side, served as semi-private spaces, have been obtained by punching the central pinch point. A dark metallic cladding envelopes the building, in a chromatic contrast with the white corridor, while perforated screens cover the block of the stairs.
