Minimum space, practical design and zero waste: this is the formula for IKEA's Tiny Home Project bringing the iconic Swedish design into small prefabricated units on wheels. The result of a collaboration with the tiny home manufacturer ESCAPE and the media company Vox Creative, the 187sqm micro-homes have been specifically designed to minimise their environmental impact, while maintaining aesthetic style and multifunctional design.

For the most part, the adopted materials are recycled, like kitchen surfaces derived from reused plastic, or environmentally friendly, such as the pine wood panels from sustainably grown trees. The dwellings are powered by solar energy, with low consumption light bulbs that allow an energy saving of about 85%, and are equipped with a compostable toilet. Prefabricated units are on the market starting at $47,500 including a flatbed trailer, perfect for making the dream of a nomadic life come true.
