Amid an orchard in Pune, India, Karan Darda Architects has completed a small temple dedicated to the daily prayer of local farmers. The small sculptural building reinterprets the Hindu architectural tradition in a contemporary way, featuring reddish concrete volumes that makes it stand out compared to the green context. Immersed in the orchard, the structure has been studied using the golden ratio, both in plan and in elevation, to maintain a human scale. In addition to the entrance openings there is another to let out the holy water, which is poured on the god. The sanctuary has a square concrete platform at its base and presents different spaces, which become more and more intimate, up to the meditation cell.
