Landscaping has been used extensively for the facades of the high-rise hotel Oasia Downtown, designed by WOHA for the Central Business District of Singapore. Indeed, the metallic red mash that envelopes the building is the element that allows the proliferation of a rich greenery. The Oasia Hotel Downtown has been awarded the Best Tall Building Worldwide 2018 prize at the 16th Annual Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Awards Program.

The creepers are used as if they were an architectural substance “achieving an overall Green Plot Ratio of 1100%,” as WOHA astates. The volume of the building is carved with three large voids that work as elevated ground levels for recreational activities; a fourth sky garden is located on top of the building. These spaces effectively enhance cross-ventilation while the red mesh combined with the greenery constitutes the primal shading device.
