Mockba XXI

A new and intriguing look at Moscow is revealed by Luigi Filetici, who for two years has been photographing the Soviet megalopolis with the aim of documenting the long and complex process of urban transformation.

On show are around fifty images in black and white by the Italian photographer born in 1962 that illustrate the major chapters in this development; from the Constructivist avant-garde to the monumentality of the Stalinist epoch, socialist projects with the stamp of Khrushchev to the questionable architecture of recent mega shopping centres. After having debuted in the Soviet capital, the exhibition now comes to Milan before moving on to New York, Barcelona and Lugano. E.S.
