Belgian centre for design De Winkelhaak has a new home – a three storey building designed by two local young architects, Coby Manders and Filip Pittillion, officially opened last September. Rigorous and minimalist and built mostly from concrete with the exception of the glazed façade.
The installation inside has been designed by Luc Vincent whilst the graphic design is by the studio Triumviraat. As well as an exhibition area, the centre has a large conference room, a library and a shop selling products by local designers. The real new innovation however is in the provision of eighteen fully equipped studios which can be rented on request – by those in design, graphics and fashion – at a cost of 549 euro a month.
