Innovation, sustainability, and strategic collaborations

Franchi Umberto Marmi launches and promotes FUMFORARCHITECTS, the new digital platform that fosters the connection between designers and natural stone with a view to increasing awareness and knowledge.

Franchi Umberto Marmi's (FUM) participation in the 58th edition of Marmomac confirmed the Carrara-based company’s role as a leader in the natural stone sector. The international trade fair, held in Verona, was an opportunity for FUM to strengthen its positioning not only as a producer of exclusive marble but also as a promoter of innovation, sustainability, and new collaborations with architects from around the world.

FUMFORARCHITECTS: a new tool for designers One of the most significant innovations presented by Franchi Umberto Marmi at Marmomac was the FUMFORARCHITECTS platform, a project specifically designed for architects and interior designers. This digital platform was created with the goal of providing concrete support to industry professionals, offering a detailed and in-depth view of the natural stone world and its application potential. FUMFORARCHITECTS is conceived as a true hub for design, where professionals can access innovative tools, explore the characteristics of materials, and discover new solutions to enhance living spaces with the use of the most exclusive marble. Just a few days after its launch, the platform has already surpassed a thousand registered users, a tangible sign of the significant interest the project has generated in the design world. This initiative demonstrates Franchi Umberto Marmi’s commitment to establishing itself not only as a producer of premium materials but also as a strategic partner for designers, offering them innovative tools to explore the aesthetic and functional potential of marble. FUMFORARCHITECTS represents an important step towards digitalization and the enhancement of dialogue with industry professionals.

Sustainability and LCA Mondo: a more conscious approach to stone   In addition to digital innovations, sustainability played a fundamental role at the event. The PNA (Pietra Naturale Autentica) network, of which FUM is a member, officially launched the LCA Mondo (Life Cycle Assessment) project, an industry-wide study conducted by the Polytechnic University of Turin that evaluates the environmental impact of natural stone throughout its entire life cycle, from extraction to processing and final application. This project marks a crucial step towards greater awareness and transparency regarding the ecological impact of natural stone, providing designers and clients with a concrete tool to make more informed and sustainable choices. LCA Mondo is the result of rigorous research aimed at promoting responsible use of stone, respecting the environment and preserving natural resources.

Design and craftsmanship: the Raised Vein module The company also participated in the “Architectural Modules” exhibition, curated by the ADI delegations of Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. This exhibition explores new aesthetic and material trends in the field of stone, and FUM presented the Raised Vein module, designed by Alex Terzariol of MMDesign. Made with FUM’s Calacatta Gold, Bardiglio, and Calacatta 900 marbles, Raised Vein is a perfect example of how the natural beauty of marble can be enhanced through contemporary design and high-quality craftsmanship. The module highlights the unique textures of FUM’s marbles, combining tradition and innovation in a piece that is both functional and visually striking.

Franchi Umberto Marmi has shown its ability to meet the new challenges of the market, offering innovative solutions for architects and designers while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. With the FUMFORARCHITECTS platform and the LCA Mondo project, FUM is confirmed as a key player not only in the natural stone sector but also in promoting a more conscious and responsible design approach. Marmomac 2024 has been an important springboard for FUM towards new opportunities, with an eye always on the future and the evolving needs of the global market.
