With the concept Guiltless Plastic, design guru Rossana Orlando states that plastic is not in itself a material to be condemned. On the contrary, plastic waste can today be considered a valuable resource for designers and a material with great potential for transformation. This is why it is essential to promote the recycling and upcycling of plastic in design.

This thought is also shared by Nardi, an Italian company specialising in outdoor furniture that from 2019 has launched an industrial programme, Regeneration, to explore the potential of recycled, and in turn recyclable, plastic.

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile (7 to 12 June 2022 at Rho Fiera, Pav. 10 Stand C02 C04), the brand presents Stack and Combo, a collection of green stools and tables that combine functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. Characterised by a linear design and thick sections, the Stack stool and Combo table are inspired by wooden beams and offer strength and durability.

Stack’s design allows one piece of furniture to be stacked on top of another. “The spiral design – says designer Raffaello Galiotto – is not a mere aesthetic whim, but the search for a shape that fulfils the need for stackability in rotation, moving away from the classic pattern of the outer strip.” Light and practical to move, it is available in two versions with different seat heights.

Combo was born from the combination of circles and straight lines. It is a round table that, with the addition of an extension leaf, can be transformed into a high table. Even the top, which mechanically fits into the base, is made of 100% recyclable regenerated polypropylene.

Both products are characterised by the rough and pleasant appearance of the material, which has a special texture with slight, uneven streaks. This appearance is certainly unexpected for a plastic material, and is the result of Nardi's long research work. The collection requires no special maintenance, is weather-resistant and, once stored, takes up little space.
