Stone effect porcelain stoneware: between history and modernity

Sober, full-bodied, bold and decisive, Casalgrande Padana's Petra is the result of a combination of natural materials and a contemporary approach.

Stone is an eternal material that is always contemporary. Combining beauty, resistance and inalterability over time, stone responds with great elegance to both the demands of tradition and the creative gestures of today.

Marble and stone panels became popular mainly during the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque, as cladding for the facades and interiors of the most important palaces and churches. However, we can find several modern and contemporary buildings interpreting its qualities with innovative approaches. Today every designer has the opportunity to bring the richness and beauty of stone into everyone's home thanks to porcelain stoneware, a material capable of interpreting the morphological and chromatic characteristics of stone to perfection.

Casalgrande Padana's Petra collection was born precisely from this need, and combines the charm of quartzite with the strength, versatility and performance of porcelain stoneware. Petra is available in six colour variants (Petra Antracite, White, Grey, Gold, Pearl and Sand), and in five sizes (from the small 20x20 cm and 20x40 cm to the classic 30x60 cm and 60x60 cm, up to the large 60x120 cm size).

The new stone-effect porcelain stoneware collection has a natural surface for indoors and a non-slip surface with a thickness of 20 mm for outdoors, allowing it to be laid both on the floor and as a wall covering, indoors and outdoors. Petra is therefore the ideal product for the design of total look spaces, where the presence of the material is predominant. Versatile, resistant and ductile, the slabs of the Petra collection are perfect for covering kitchen or bathroom tops, shower trays, washbasins, shelves, wall units and worktops.

The material texture that faithfully reproduces that of stone, combined with the high technical performance of porcelain stoneware, allow the ceramic slabs to be used in various contexts: from housing to the renovation of existing buildings, from retail to public facilities.
