In Los Angeles, work has officially begun on One Beverly Hills, an urban resort expected to be completed in Los Angeles in 2026 with design guidance from Foster + Partners. The architectural complex, designed in collaboration with Kerry Hill Architects, includes within it two residential towers and a ten-story hotel. The “urban resort” spans an 18-acre floor plan, connecting the iconic Beverly Hilton and the Waldorf Astoria.
With the goal of creating a more sustainable and future-oriented development, the new buildings and gardens at One Beverly Hills were designed to comply with and even exceed California’s ambitious sustainability goals. In designing the verdant landscaping, the team enlisted the help of Los Angeles-based RIOS Studio, which curated more than two hundred species of plants and trees that are native to California and have low water impact.
A complete redesign of the surrounding open space will improve pedestrian and bicycle access, with dedicated paths that will allow for seamless movement through the entire site. Wilshire Boulevard will thus undergo a complete transformation, becoming a verdant entrance characterized by a cascading staircase that invites visitors to explore the green space and retail outlets on the ground floors of the architectures.
The gardens will also be implemented according to plan by a sustainable irrigation system that will use harvested rainwater and recycled graywater, achieving full water self-sufficiency and conserving millions of gallons per year.
