Aerodynamic towers by Studio Symbiosis designed to purify air in cities

Composed of triangular modules, Verto is a new multidirectional air purification tower capable of filtering air and making it healthier in the open spaces of polluted cities.

Air quality has become a problem for many inhabitants in densely populated urban areas over the past decades.

Studio Symbiosis has presented a prototype of a 360-degree air purification tower: the Verto purification tower is currently at work in New Delhi’s Sunder Nursery. It is a large-scale, 5.5-meter-high system with a multidirectional air purification function to filter the air and make it healthier for the humans and animals around it.

These mini-architectures are composed of a single triangular module. Each component is tapered to create wind compression and thus increase air buoyancy. The drilling pattern is designed as a performance-oriented system, with larger openings in the inlet and outlet areas that accentuate the helical movement of the tower. Based on a plug-and-play design, Vetro can be shipped in a flat package and easily assembled on site due to its modular GRC panel system.

The tower is equipped with a control system that allows the filter columns to be adjusted according to demand, thus reacting to current air quality. External sensors, meanwhile, record data on air and weather conditions, which are collected and evaluated in a cloud.
