The latest edition of Marmomac, the most important world fair dedicated to marble and natural stone, was also an opportunity to explore new expressive, design, and production frontiers. The event combined a purely business dimension with a schedule of cultural events for architects and designers that shed light on contemporary languages related to the stone material. The Plus Theatre, an area inside Hall 10, was the beating heart of activities such as panel discussions, readings and workshops. Five exhibitions dominated the space: a narrative journey spanning the entire production cycle, from the block to the end product. The project gave participants an expanded snapshot of the opportunities generated by natural stone as the material of choice for a wide variety of sectors, alongside its new applications. Etica-Litica represented a challenge addressed to companies to create prototypes using a single slab, thanks to the collaboration with ADI, the Association for Industrial Design, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige delegation. Raffaello Galiotto presented Visionary Stone to promote the development of experimental works of art in natural stone processed with CNC technology. New processing techniques at the service of projects for international furniture/design brands were the focus of Brand & Stone 4.0, an exhibition conceived and curated by Danilo Di Michele. Photography was the protagonist of Stoneland, an exhibition of projects depicting the use of stone created by 15 international architectural firms. Finally, space was given to the university world during Marmomac meets Academies, with Giuseppe Fallacara and Domenico Potenza curating the exhibition “Italy to Discover. University research and landscape of the urban public space”.
