Since Apple's great exploit at the turn of the millennium, the idea of system, allied to the visual identity of a certain minimalist trait, has become a watchword in design, traversing different levels in a continuous growth across various spheres of human life. From the closed system of iPods, iPhones and related operating systems, brought together in Jonathan Ive’s essential aesthetic code, this idea has also extended to the domestic sphere, beyond momentary trends: far from the 60s and 70s “all-in-one” obsessions affecting the design of entire rooms, the idea of a system for the home environment at the intersection of the concept of a “family” of elements, technological innovation, interaction, spatial and visual flexibility.
Franke, with its Franke Home Solutions division, world leader in intelligent systems and solutions for domestic kitchens, operates in this environment, giving materiality to such philosophies through an ecosystem of products capable of responding to all the functional needs of the kitchen, and Mythos Black Line is the most complete example of such encounter between systemic thinking and aesthetic identity: the black finish, the hallmark of this suite of appliances, can fit into different designs without creating discontinuity, and makes harmony the key concept in the relationship between the technological system and the architecture of domestic life.
The Black Line family is therefore populated by devices with a pure and minimalist design, making ease of insertion their first functional value. The coffee machine is a built-in element, as is the wine cellar designed to hold up to 24 bottles, and as are the accessory drawers designed to integrate them with coffee bean holders, tea leaf holders, latte art sets or tools for wine-tasting experience.
The oven and microwave, a collection that won the Red Dot Design Award in 2021, are also built-in elements, complemented by a full-colour touch display and a warming drawer, while the the ability to create continuity with the surrounding design, and the ability to stand out within it with strong as well as harmonious identity meet in the induction hobs and the Vertical Pro and T- Shelf vertical or stand-alone hoods.
This is where the smart component of the Mythos ecosystem comes into the picture: smart in terms of technology, with the possibility of connecting induction hobs with vertical or built-in hoods, equipped with K-Link technology making hob and hood connect and interact, allowing the extraction power of the hood to automatically adapt to the selected cooking level; smart, however, also in terms of its ability to integrate with other product families, such as the Icon mixers, and different typologies such as the Mythos bowls and sinks, also available in black.
