Gallerie d’Italia pays tribute to Giovanni Gastel, who passed away last 13 March, through a series of photographs portraying Teatro alla Scala Étoile Roberto Bolle. Strength, expressiveness, elegance. The exhibition explores the body and the poses of one of the world’s most famous ballet dancers and the physical dimension of ballet through the medium of photography.
Homologies of forms, harmonies, near-to-impossible extensions and photographs understood as tools capable of documenting the presence of beauty. All pictures are active steps towards the redemption of poetic corporeity, where dynamism and tension take centre stage. Entitled “Passo a due” (Pas de deux) the exhibition is set up in the octagonal cloister of the museum in Piazza della Scala. Open until 7 November 2021.
