French designer Ora ïto and Meetic founder Marc Simoncini partnered back in 2017 to create a new e-bike that would mix a smooth, ïto-esque design, and a digital control system. The result of their partnership is called Angell, and the bike is now finally available for pre-order, with a shipping date set for July 2020. The Angell shines for its streamlined and soft design, integrating a lightweight 2kg battery (with a range of 70km), tail lights, indicators and hyperbolic lights into a carbon-aluminum frame coming in silver or black. The centerpiece of the two-wheeler is the 2,4” touchscreen on the handlebar. It’s a digital cockpit offering the user a quick and intuitive way to pick a ride, check a weather forecast, or keep speed and battery level under control at all time, just with a touch and a glance.
The companion smartphone app lets the user manage the bike status, review the fall alerts, overview the security features and setup a destination for the on-bike navigation system that will prompt the rider on the cockpit’s screen.
Angell’s rear-wheel motor can assist the rider with a boost up to 25km/h, but the bike has a “Fly free” mode for those times you just want to bike freely with no help from the internal motor. Unlike other bikes, that’s a perfectly feasible task due to the bike’s totale weight of 13,9kg, almost like a traditional city-bike. Angell can be pre-ordered now on the company’s website and the shipments will begin in July. A smaller version of the bike, called Angell /S, will be available in December 2020. Prices start at 2690€.
