Amuleto Pearl is the lamp presented in world preview by Ramun, lighting brand born from a conversation between Mendini and his nephew, in the exhibition at the Groninger Museum “Mondo Mendini - Il mondo di Alessandro Mendini” that remembers the great designer.
Created as a special edition of the Amuleto lamp designed by the Italian master, Amuleto Pearl celebrates Korean Najeon-jang, a mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer-ware technique born over a thousand years ago. Master Bang-ung Song has done extensive research to create the lacquered inlay with Mendini’s design, reproduced on the three pieces that compose the lamp and represent the sun, moon and earth. The lamp is the result of a long process, 1566 pieces of mother-of-pearl and the combination of an ancient artisan technique with technology.
7 Stars, the other project by Mendini presented by Ramun, is a collection that includes seven small table lamps designed by internationally renowned architects and designers to be unveiled in 2020. Among them is Campanello, the lamp designed by the Italian master in 2013 and now exhibited together with Amuleto in important contemporary art museums.
Bella by Marcel Wanders is part of the collection: created for his daughter Joy, the small lamp offers soft colors and plays ten classic melodies like those of Bach and Chopin. Geef altijd meer dan men verwacht (“Give more than expected”) is the message of the Dutch designer engraved under the base. The lamp was made with special attention to eye and skin health, as it does not emit UV, IR, flickering and overheating radiation.
