The lamps designed by Tord Boontje, Ferruccio Laviani, Marc Sadler and Ilaria Marelli for Foscarini go beyond the simple lamp or furnishing accessory: they are scenic objects capable of establishing themselves in space and characterising it. Suns, palaces, clouds or flowers rest firmly on floors and tables, or fly around in environments that can be characterised both when switched on and off.
Tord Boontje, Sun – Light of Love
Ferruccio Laviani, Uptown
UpTown is a bright skyscraper in tempered and silk-screen printed glass, available in the floor and table versions. The lamp designed by Ferruccio Laviani is the protagonist of the interior without needing to be in operation, but when you turn on the light source hidden inside the base it characterises the whole environment with its bright shades of color.
Marc Sadler, Nuée
The Franco-Austrian designer, who is based in Milan, designs a soft cloud with a strong scenographic impact. Sadler uses a three-dimensional fabric, whose irregular texture can create light and dark areas and alternate transparency and opacity. Nuée generates two distinct lights, one punctual and directed downwards and the other soft and directed towards the entire room.
Ilaria Marelli, Belle de Jour
Belle de Jour is a floor lamp with an asymmetrical shape and a strong volumetric impact. The product designed by Italian designer Ilaria Marelli has a hexagonal base that develops vertically like a stem and opens to form a corolla on the diffuser, directing the light upwards. “The name refers to morning glory flowers, which close up in the evening. I wanted to reproduce the form and movement of this plant with its sensual delicacy,” said Ilaria Marelli.
