Large, very powerful and full of cameras. The presentation of the Galaxy S10 is just a month away, and will take place on 20 February in San Francisco, but the web can’t wait, and in the last few days, endless rumours have been circulating. After all, together with the iPhone which will be revealed in September, this is one of the global heavyweights of the mobile world, a telephone which every year is characterised by the latest technology.
In reality, as has been the case in the past, the name S10 defines a range. There are four devices to be presented, but it seems that they all have a fundamental characteristic in common. The screen now has a hole. The front camera has been moved there, and there is no more irritating black notch covering a notable part of the top of the screen.
The range begins with the S10 standard, which represents the latest evolution of the species. A device which should have a 6.1-inch AMOLED QHD+ display and 6 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of memory and a 3500 mAh battery. Then there is the Plus (or “+”) version, which stands for more power, with a probable 6.4-inch display, up to 8 GB of RAM, 512 GB of memory and a 4000 mAh battery. On the contrary, the Lite model is all about economy. The screen is reduced to 5.8 inches, RAM is down to 4 GB, the internal memory space is 128 GB and the battery is 3,100 mAh.
Last but not least is the most interesting but also the most elusive model, the Galaxy S10+ 5G, defined by many as the Galaxy S10 X, perhaps in celebration of the device’s tenth anniversary. Here Samsung should be giving its all. The screen is very large, arriving at 6.7 inches, practically a small tablet. The RAM beats that of many laptops, pushing the limits to 10 or 12 GB. Even the memory beats that of various PCs, with rumours of a tetrabyte. It goes without saying that the battery needs to be able to handle all this hardware, and according to reliable sources, this will be 5,000 mAh.
And that's not all, because this X will apparently also support the ultra-fast and low-latency network which is being implemented in the Western hemisphere and will boast six cameras. While its smaller brothers are keeping the usual three rear 12-, 16- and 13-megapixel sensors, the colossal X will allegedly have two front sensors and four at the rear.
We will not have to wait long to see if all of this is true. As already said, the presentation has been set for 20 February, while the market launch is due for the first week of March, when the Galaxy S10, S10 Lite and S10+ will be available with prices ranging from 620 to 1,300 euros. The X will come a little later. It is due to be launched in Korea at the end of March, and at the moment there is no information regarding Europe or Italy. For the price, the rumour is that it will cost around 1,400 euros.
