The new tableware collections presented by Zaha Hadid Design follow and renew the methodology and poetics of the Iranian architect. At Maison et Objet 2019 four new objects and collections were presented, characterised by sinuous forms, refined details and precious materials.
The Swirl bowl is an object with dynamic shapes and a rippled surface that evokes a crystal vortex. Evolution of the Mesa and Auqa tables, the Hew tray is composed of three surfaces, supported by a wavy base that makes it easy to grip and raises the top; the object is powder coated with contrasting colors that enhance the different parts of the tray.
A new plate and a bowl of marble and porcelain have been added to the Cell family, marked by monochromatism and a linear groove on the surface of the plate that allows the placement of objects. Finally, Hew is a composition of glass glasses and jugs, whose very accentuated vertical shape tests the technical limits of the material.
Woody Yao, director at Zaha Hadid Design, explains: “The strength of the collection lies in our ability to interpret the ordinary into something unexpected. When designing objects, Zaha was never constrained by any given use or spatial context. We continue to follow this approach with an unwavering commitment to design ingenuity and material integrity.”
