Ferruccio Laviani reinterprets some of Foscarini’s iconic lamps in a chromatic key. Be/Color is the Venetian company’s new capsule collection which brings back models such as Magneto by Giulio Iacchetti, Twiggy by Marc Sadler, Binic by Ionna Vautrin, Gregg by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, Bahia by Lucidi Pevere. The color scheme, with a retro flavor, introduces pastel colors including green, blue, pink and bricky, creating bright combinations between the various elements of the lamps.
“Color has only recently been legitimized”, says Ferruccio Laviani, “from those rationalist legacies that have always considered it something accessory, not fundamental, remaining within the declination of the single primary colors. It was only with the advent of Postmodernism and above all with Memphis and Alchimia that unusual color palettes were introduced, with out-of-the-box combinations. Color and its presence in contemporary industrial design thus becomes an important topic in design and one of the main elements of each new creation.”
“Designing with color means considering not only what is at the center, but also what is nearby and around”, explains Carlo Urbinati, president of Foscarini. “We are born with color, which brings volumes to life, allows us to read the full and the empty and expresses the object’s personality”.
