A modular sofa made by modernist blocks

Benjamin Hubert has created a modular sofa for the Layer agency, produced by Moroso and presented at the Salone del Mobile 2018.

Tape, Moroso

Benjamin Hubert designed “Tape” a modular sofa with a table for the Moroso brand. The product was launched the last Salone del Mobile in April 2018. The Tape collection uses polyurethane tapes to join small pieces of fabric that would otherwise be discarded in the upholstery process. This technique is inspired by the sports industry, where the tape is used in the construction of equipment for snowboarding, skiing and wet. “Layer” collaborated with a technical clothing manufacturer to develop the tape technology for use in furniture and in construction, heat bonding machines were used. The Kvadrat fabric was used to cover the modular sofa and the hammock-shaped shelf under the table. The modular sofa consists of several blocks of modernist inspiration and can be configured in various ways to stay in different interiors and styles. Each module of the various components binds to the others with the polyurethane tape. There are also pockets in which magazines and small objects can be placed. The table has a shelf that can be repositioned.
