Would you like your morning news read to you by James Dean? Or would you like Judy Garland to read you an article about the war in Ukraine? Maybe you'd rather fancy Sir Laurence Olivier or Burt Reynolds to recite you a TMZ story about Dua Lipa? Thanks to Eleven Labs’ Reader App and its "Iconic Voices" collection, now you can do all that.
The audio research company's new app lets users listen to digital texts narrated by AI-Voices. The app can ingurgitate articles, PDFs, books in ePub and other formats, newsletters, or any other digital text available on your phone and turn it into an "emotionally rich, context-aware voice-over."
The iconic voices of the famous dead actors mentioned above are exclusively available through the Reader app for Apple devices, and Eleven Apps refrained from adding them to its large Voice Library that users can access through the company's online voice generator.
The estates of James Dean, Judy Garland, Laurence Olivier, and Burt Reynolds have all granted Eleven Labs a presumably well-paid license to exhume the voices of the four dead artists.
"It's exciting to see our mother's voice available to the countless millions of people who love her," said Liza Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland and representative of the Garland Estate. "Through the spectacular new technology offered by ElevenLabs, our family believes that this will bring new fans to Mama and be exciting to those who already cherish the unparalleled legacy that Mama gave and continues to give to the world."
