Damien Hirst’s artwork for the reopening of Tokyo’s Tiffany store

The work of the British artist decorates the entire facade of the building designed by Kengo Kuma and is inspired by the petals of cherry blossoms, portraying them in a manner similar to the French expressionists.

The external facade is covered with about 300 panels in honeycomb glass and aluminum, arranged with different angles in order to reflect the light and thus recall the play of reflections and sparkles given by the carvings made on precious stones. Hirst’s artwork has completely occupied it, transforming each panel into a piece of the huge image that depicts the crown of a cherry tree with pink, white, red, and green petals, against a bright blue background. Hirst also dedicated himself to some of the interior parts of the store, painting some of the walls to recall the floral pattern of the exterior.
