French design studio Chzon studio redesigned the boarding gate area in Charles de Gaulle Airport’s Terminal 2G. The aim was to create a contemporary and symbolical representation of Paris’ history and design, enriching with a refined aesthetic an area of 1,300-square-meter.

The studio made reference to iconic Parisian monuments by inserting archways that nod to the Arc de Triomphe and a fountain that remembers the one in Jardin du Luxembourg, surrounded by the unmistakable green metal chairs. Chzon mixed these references with airplane design, extremely important in France. Metallic details, patterned finishes, and reclining seats – designed by the Italian architect and furniture designer Osvaldo Borsani – give to the space a unique atmosphere.

Rounded seating – in dark blue and green upholstery – inspired by the 1960s and 1970s’ design, are arranged in benches and pairs; and, to differentiate the space and offer privacy to the passengers, Chzon added partitions and white sculptures by artist studio Les Simonnets, which double as alternative bench seating.
