Womb Tower is Milan’s newest skyscraper, featuring a vertical forest

The competition of ideas launched by Reale Mutua to design a new building in the vibrant Garibaldi area was won by Labics with this project.

Torre Womb (acronym that stands for Wellness Over Milan Bureaus), this is the name of the new Reale Immobili office skyscraper designed by Labics, which will rise in Milan to take the place of an eight-storey building , dating back to the 1950s, between via Massimo D'Azeglio and via Tito Speri, in the business district of Zona Garibaldi.

Air, green and light are the key words behind the 6,300 square meter project, which appears as a slender half pyramid, made of glass and concrete. This will be the first tower for the studio founded by Claudia Clemente and Francesco Isidori, in collaboration with Arup and Gad.

As the call for the porject asked, great attention was paid to the environmental comfort of the work spaces, energy saving and functional flexibility. The first floor will host a green oasis, there will be terraces and open spaces for employees and also a suspended “forest” of holm oaks, that will develop for the entire height of the building, up to the spire, 88 meters high.
