RANS architectuur | stedenbouw, Carmody Groarke and RE-ST architectenvennootschap partnered to design the new wing of Design Museum Gent. Called DING (Design in Ghent), the new section will be connected to the existing museum from 1992 and will provide more exhibition areas, a shop and spaces for debate and public activities. The design is the result of an open call getting 96 entries. The chosen concept aims to open up to the city thanks to large openings in the facade making the interiors visibile from the outside, and a roof volume on the fourth floor, the “Loft”, that provides views on the city through glazed walls. The implementation will start in 2021 and could be finished by the end of 2023.
