Many people feel a blind nostalgia for the 2000s—the era of futuristic style, oversized sunglasses, Juicy Couture monochrome tracksuits, and tech gadgets used as fashion accessories. It was a time perceived as stylish, bold, and extremely easy to recognize and celebrate. For this reason, many brands in recent years have capitalized on this sentiment, offering the most nostalgic a chance to relive the Y2K dream through various fashion codes and items.

This is precisely the premise behind Adidas’ 2025 release, in which the brand revisits its own archive, revamping one of the most polarizing shoes of the 2000s and giving it a new name. The original model was the Kobe 2, launched at the turn of the millennium as the signature shoe of Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Inspired by the Audi TT Roadster, the sneaker was both a status symbol and a perfect reflection of its era, thanks to its bold and undeniably unique design, which embraced both a futuristic and aerodynamic aesthetic.
The announcement of the sneaker’s return, expected in April, has generated considerable buzz on social media. The shoe will be named the Adidas Crazy 2 and will be released in a metallic silver colorway, staying true to its history while modernizing the original design. The nostalgic elements of the shoe will be paired with a synthetic silver leather upper, enhanced by subtle details and black accents, three stripes on the midsole, and the Adidas branding on the rubber toe. It is expected to retail for $160.
