Parisian photographer and artist Élina Kechicheva, in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, reimagined the masterpiece that Eugène Delacroix painted in 1830 and made the history of European iconography: Liberty Leading the People. Preserved in the Louvre, in Paris, the work commemorates the revolution that in July of that same year led to the overthrow of King Charles X of France.
In the huge adaptation – which extends for about 1100 square meters on the museum’s facade – to give a sense of participation in the action the artist has decided to invert the point of view of scene’s representation, thus giving the viewer the impression to be part of the revolution and be at the forefront.
Élina Kechicheva said: “Reimagining such an iconic work of art for me was an important challenge, which I did not take lightly. I felt a strong sense of responsibility, because I wanted to be respectful of the original, which represents values that all French people have at heart. I hope that people can resonate with this work of art, that it can speak to them in a new way, offering a different perspective, and that through it they are led to engage themselves both in person and online”.
