Five circles

Muller Van Severen designed five food trays that are meant to be piled on the table, and not stored away: conceived in 2016, they are now available for consumers.

Design duo Muller Van Severen, created a collection of five circle-shaped objects in polyethylene and marble, to be used as food trays. Since the beginning in 2011, Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen expressed their love for both materials.

The PE tones down the luxury factor of marble, while the marble elevates the more subdued character of PE. When it comes to color, Muller Van Severen stayed true to their style. As they explain, “PE is produced for the food industry only and comes in just eight different colors, one color for each food group: red for meat, green for vegetables, blue for fish and so on”. The marble can be used for hot foods, the PE for cold delicacies. The idea is to pile the disks up on the table when they’re not being used, so they don’t have to necessarily disappear in the kitchen’s cabinets. Each disk has a diameter of 20 cm and is about 2 cm thick.
