Cattelan and Ferrari take over Galeries Lafayette with installations that offer visitors a witty, food-inspired take on France’s capital, in a flourish of summery colours.
Galeries Lafayette invited Toiletpaper to take over the space with creative duo Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari that present a series of window displays, an exhibition at Galeries des Galeries and an installation under the dome in Coupole.
The project of the store, the exhibition and gathering space is a collaborative effort with Seletti and Gufram who, together with the duo, have produced a variety of everyday objects tinged with their characteristic surrealistic images.
Over ten years ago, Pierpaolo Ferrari went to photograph Maurizio Cattelan. This through-the-lens meeting would be a defining moment for the two Italian designers who, in 2010, founded Toiletpaper, a magazine composed exclusively of photographs and a platform for their art that ensured a wide audience.
For the window sequence, Toiletpaper has created 11 images which will be featured in the window displays on Boulevard Haussmann. Summer, Paris and romance will set the tone Among the scenes, the Eiffel Tower on holiday on a desert island, or a “store-like woman” surrounded by a multitude of distinctively objects.
