Compasso d’Oro ADI

On the 28th of May have been presented the winners of the 60th edition of the Compasso d’Oro, that returns to Milan after 10 years with an exhibition of the competing products.

There are 20 winners of this year’s edition of th Compasso d’Oro ADI, 11 Career Achivement Awards, 90 Honorable Mentions, and was awarded 3 Targa Giovani Award, given by a special jury and intended to recognize designs and projects developed in Italian design schools.

The jury , consiting of consisting of Luisa Bocchietto, ADI President, Roberto Marcatti, Giovanna Talocci (ADI Executive Committee), Giovanni Cutolo (ADI Compasso d’Oro Foundation Collection President), Elena Miroglio, Rodrigo Rodriquez ( ADI Foundation board members), Angelo Cortesi, Walter de Silva, Manlio Armellini (honorary ADI members), worked collectively together and all decisions were taken democratically and in accordance with the principle of “Socratic dialogue”.

The jury members had to analyze a considerable number of products, and the mix of quality and quantity caused them to reflect on the fact that in this sector Italian design maintains a leadership role at a global level.

They observed the variety and diversity of the sectors in which design is applied; the commitment and the passion with which companies invest in design, ranging from the smallest to global leaders; the ability to integrate the work of artisans into industrial production

The 11 Career Achivement Awards went to: Giorgio Armani; Riccardo Dalisi; Bruno Danese; Puccio Duni; Italo Lupi; Alessandro Mendini; SaloneSatellite; Richard Sapper and Apple, Ekuan Kenji, Dieter Rams.

Essenza. Designer: GSG International; Prod.: GSG International. Compasso d’Oro for having integrated the simple window into the architectural repertoire.

F12 berlinetta. Designer: Flavio Manzoni - Centro Stile Ferrari, Pininfarina; Prod.: Ferrari. Compasso d’Oro for its streamlined shape, whose aerodynamics optimize the car’s performance.

Compasso d’Oro for providing both economic and practical reasons for re-evaluating Italian industrial craftsmanship not from a nostalgic point of view but looking instead towards the future.
