Among the 11 designers selected to display and sell their creations, Kaamos – a collective of designers from Finland – presents a collection including lamps, containers and tabeltop products that draws from Finnish log cabin culture.
Kuru Tableware Set, designed by Anna Palomaa is a set composed by four cups and plates that can be carried in a net bag made of reindeer skin: the cups slide inside the plate and form a knot that holds them together. Both the cups and the plates may be stacked on top of one another. Oma Floorlamp, designed by Katriina Nuutinen, consists of a wrought-iron tripod base and a glass cover that has been mouth blown into a mold. The lamp prototype was produced by handicraft techniques and its structure is simple, yet clever. It may also be manufactured in industrial serial production. This slender utility article combines hard and sturdy iron with delicate and gently formed glass. Katriina Nuutinen’s Tatti Containers are used to store something valuable, to keep safe golden memories or even sweets. some of the containers may be used as piggy banks. The glass bases that have been mouth blown by Finnish artisans combined with lids turned of wood create an endearing, easily approachable combination.
