Domus China 099, July 2015
On th 9th anniversary of Domus China, the editorial recalls the past history of this magazine. With the endeavor of everyone who used to work here and the support from every single reader, Domus China grows up to be one influential magazine in China during these years.

Although we have experienced and still are experiencing difficulties and hardships in real-life practice, Domus China is aiming to devote its consistent effort to record and promote the development of design force of China and the world, progressing with the whole industry.

Among the projects of this issue, the Museum of Fine Arts in Asturias, designed by Francisco Mangado, illustrates one humble resolution for its historical site by hiding the new wing behind the façade of the existing museum, to maintain the original urban feature; as the demonstration project of a product manufacturer, the office building in Milan explores the potential of both the architect and the products by transforming the building when it is still being used and by providing bright and pleasant environment with removable louvers.

Two projects in different scale, N.B.K. residence designed by Bernard Khoury and the Neuroscience Institute and Psychology Department in Princeton University by Rafael Moneo, all interpret the extraordinary construction skill; while the other two projects designed separately by Amacio Williams and Neoptolemos Michaelides portray the charm of concrete.

The school this month is the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar which considers architecture and urbanism as a complex system based on the comprehension of history, theory, sociology, design, experiment as well as craft and modern technology; and Alberto Campo Baeza, the tenured professor of architectural design at ETSAM attributes his aim and teaching to the pursuit of beauty, when Alex de Rijke, the Dean of the School of Architecture of the RCA is seeking the wide boundary of architecture especially in the field of sociology. In addition, Piero Gandini describes his ambition and dream of FLOS.

The Feedback in this issue leads us to Amerigo Restucci’s Matera, where the depth of history meets the lively vitality.
Last but not least: please expect the coming 100 issue of Domus China next month featured with the theme of Scan China.
