Public and domestic spaces and above all their fruition in relation to the social class and culture to which one belongs. On these seminal topics, the second roundtable of domusforum 2020 has questioned and put into dialogue four prominent academics, each one coming from a different world and sensibility. Among the topics covered: Wowo Ding from Nanjin University dwelt on the debate currently underway in China between open and closed communities; New Delhi native Rahul Mehrotra reflected on the concept of scale and the need to reinterpret it according to the new values that have emerged; American Sarah M. Whiting underlined how the pandemic has put the relationship between the individual and the community at the centre of the debate, especially with regard to open spaces; finally, Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani underlined how the pandemic is in fact a great test for the contradictions of society and our cities. It will not force us to radically change our lives but certainly to rethink our priorities.
