Mime is a limited edition of 10 pieces designed for the Spanish gallery Side Gallery. To create it, Zaven used the know-how of local artisans from the Ceramics District in Veneto, northern Italy, and was inspired by the movements of light and body in space. “Like when you take a picture in the dark and use a long exposure time”, Enrica Cavarzan of Zaven tells Domus.

“We like the idea of a trace, of a luminous sign as in Lucio Fontana’s neon structure, which is now in the Museo del Novecento in Milan. The ceramic, then, appears soft and moldable, but in reality it is fixed and solid.

To give the lamp an industrial character – a bright blue shade that has been part of Zaven’s portfolio for years – it was decided to add the classic fluorescent orange cargo lace with a metal hook and chain.
