Three Birds, Seven Stories...

With a piece by British artist Simon Starling, Franco Noero inaugurates the new premises of his Turin gallery in the “fetta di polenta”.

With seven storeys above ground and another two below, this provocative architectural experiment was built by Alessandro Antonelli in the latter half of the 19th century on an almost triangular-shaped site. This is the setting for Starling’s amazing narrative journey that draws on real and imaginary versions of the story in which German architect Eckart Muthesius was called upon by the maharajah of Indore to create a garden of precious stones. The complex narrative (involving sculptor Constantin Brancusi, film director Fritz Lang, and a number of exponents of the European avantgarde such as Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer, Eileen Grey and Lilly Reich) takes visitors on an imaginary spacetime journey across Indore, Berlin and Turin. From the fi rst to seventh floor of the “Fetta di Polenta” until June 28. Elena Sommariva
