I/S House is a sculptural architecture, modelled with precision to generate new relationships between spaces and between people.
The geometries of Paritzki & Liani Architects’ project in Savyon, Israel, are determined by the unusual shape of the lot, which is trapezoidal and faces a green space to the southeast. The architects propose a volume which forms a double scalene triangle on the roof, but which empties, decomposes, flexes and opens up at lower levels, adapting to any situation.
“The compositional design idea for this home was to build 600 covered square meters distributed over three stories, while also attempting to create the illusion that this volume does not exist,” say the architects.
The life of the house revolves around the small garden, overlooked by all the main rooms. The outdoor space is organised on multiple levels, linked by ramps, steps and shifts in elevation, creating a promenade connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. One of the corners of the house seems to stand out from the ground, both because of the difference in height and because of the presence of a glass wall between the ground floor and the lower level.
A long swimming pool constitutes a visual and acoustic element capable of determining the atmosphere of the domestic spaces. “Water, the major visual and acoustic element that mutates the endless refections among the surrounding foliage, the sky, and the glass, is continuously present in the company of vibrant green vegetation,” stated Paritzki & Liani Architects.
