Located in Terricciola, a small town in the province of Pisa, Italy, Winery Podere La Chiesa stands in an area shaped like a natural amphitheatre, a gentle slope surrounded by the Tuscan countryside. The project by architect Andrea Mannocci (and-studio architects) is well integrated into the landscape, with which it establishes a continuous and prolific dialogue: the building visually allows the natural scenery of the vineyards to enter, while at the same time acting as the fulcrum of the context.
The building’s envelope is inspired by wine and countryside: the facade, made of reinforced concrete, pigmented with brown tones, recalls the hues of earth and must. A series of large circular holes reproduces the shape and composition of bunches of grapes, connecting the interior with the exterior.
