Containers are the symbol of a new way of producing architecture, which takes into account the scarcity of the planet’s material resources and aims to enhance what we have. Standard dimensions, prefabricated elements and easy availability allow small architectures or entire villages to be built anywhere in the world using these blocks in an original way as if they were Lego. In Hong Kong, the A Work of Substance studio aggregated four of them to create the Goodman Westlink showroom. Container’s industrial aesthetics are softened by the use of wood and glass to create comfortable interiors that are in close contact with the tropical nature that surrounds the new structure. The arrangement of the blocks generates two open or covered terraces allowing a fluid dialogue between inside and outside.
